rathbun bite????

    going to go down and fish rathbun on saturday and maybe sunday for walleye. any word about the bite? with all the rain we have been getting i am not too excited about my chances.

    The high water doesn’t bother rathbun, its that most of the walleye’s are in the chariton river because they have to let all the water out before the next rains come. They needed low water levels this year to put in the boat ramps at the new resort. Its only 5 foot high right now which is nothing for that lake but the dam is still wide open like it has been all year. I imagine there even less walleye’s in there now.

    I’ve seen guys snagging 5 to 9lb walleye below the dam; mostly locals I think. I really wish they would try to catch them in the mouth i.e. a legal catch…
