I’ve never been down to Goose Island to fish. With the high water is it still good to go for launching a boat? Thinking about giving it a try Sunday but don’t want to drag the boat down there and find out it’s flooded.

I don’t know about the launch, but if you go bring a gps because it is a huge braided backwater system and may be easy to get lost. And by that I mean I have ran out of gas twice. In my defense I was duck hunting in the dark, but it is a huge area. It seems easy while going one way, but to go back most cuts look different on the return. Fortunately the folks on the water shared their gas with me and I am still alive to date..

With the water as high as it is anywhere on the river is gonna be really tough..
June 28, 2013 at 9:02 pm #1180893Lake Onalaska might just be where I end up. I usually fish pool 7 but I don’t think taking my tin can of a boat out there would be a good idea. Just thought I’d check. I’ll get down to Goose Island sometime this year yet I hope. (Water permitting)
