Hey guys, I love chasing panfish, but never have tried the river. I’m planning on coming down next week a few days and was hoping to get a ice or lack of ice report. I’m headed to pool 4/5 area. Are the back waters open yet. A few guys steered me toward Goose Lake, but any other suggestions would be welcomed. I assume some of the panfish are starting to move up shallow to their spawning areas, but if I’m off, please correct me. thanks in advance for any help.

A buddy of mine just broke ice into Goose Lake the other day and did really well on Crappies in 10- 14 ft. of water.

The crappies and sunfish were on a tear here in the Bay City slough the last few weeks but that has seemed to taper off lately. We were getting them in 2-4 ft. on minnows and waxies.
