Outdoor grill table Granite cutting

I am buying a slab of granite for my Outdoor kitchen grill table off Facebook. The granite will be replacing a current tile top on my grill table.

The slab is 1.5″ thick x 62″ x 36″. I have 2 options for the table top, my current tile top has a square opening, my big green egg sits in a square opening. If I went this way, I would cut 3 separate pieces to to create the square opening. After research, I’m pretty sure I can cut the square pieces myself.

The second option would to be to cut a 24″ Circle in the slab. This option would look much nicer than square cut. I wouldn’t need the hole polished or anything as my Big green egg will sit inside the hole and mostly cover up the edge.

Curious if anyone on IDO, northeast metro area, cuts granite? I might have a job for you.

I say box it in yourself and build something around it to cover spots you need, but that’s just me. grin

I would cut it in the circle why would you have a nice piece of granite only to have it cut that way to save a few dollars. I am sure there is a water jet cutting company close by that could do the cut for a couple hundred dollars.

Find someone with a 24″ core drill. Maybe Bearcat89 could help you out?

There has to be someone with a water jet in your area. Easy for them but will they do it. Slab 1 1/2” ??? Most likely 3cm or 1 1/4”. You could do it yourself with multi carbide drill points and grind smooth. ( what a pain). Use water. I would find a water jet If you cut squares and seam/epoxy. Will have to be clean to not be ugly.

Just core drill it. Core drill comes right to your house and gets the job done right on site..
