Has anyone ever ran this reel for open water? I use it on my TUCR Deastick in the winter, but I was thinking about trying it on the boat this summer. I was thinking about using it for walleye fishing pulling spinners, or maybe even Lindy rigs. You can adjust the tension on the baitfeeder. I wonder if it would work for these applications?

I have the same hard water setup and am going to put the avenger on a long rod for open water. This reel comes in large sizes that are used on the coast all the time. I would not use it for trolling (I don’t see the advantage). I am going to try using it with a bobber.

I use them on my catfishing rods. They’re awesome!

As for a spinner or lindy rig setup, I guess I am a bit different. I want the reel in my hands to feel the hits. I am not saying it won’t work and its probably worth a shot though.
