Over the weekend I got lucky and smashed my personal best walleye. She went a legitimate 32” x 19” and was both the longest and thickest fish I’ve caught.

I was trolling outside weedlines in 12-15 FOW using a #12 Purpledescent Rapala Deep Husky Jerk.

Wow! What do you estimate the poundage was? And where’d you catch it? (General region if you don’t want to give away the lake or river)

It’s a pig, yes. The picture of it’s length is, I’d guess maybe 30.5”, 31”…

    I’d guess maybe 30.5”, 31”…

Id have to agree. Its a beautiful fish for sure but in picture tail starts at just under 1 inch and head looks to stop about where 31.5 would be. Don’t wanna be that guy but whats that rule. Do unto to others what you think they would do to you.

That’ll teach you to post something like this on a fishing site! LOL. Lay her flat on a horizontal surface, pinch the tail, and I’m sure it’s 32” all day long. If you didn’t have to measure her on the side of the boat, well, maybe she was even longer.

AWESOME FISH! I love the release pic. Not many people have caught enough big fish to release a 32”. I hope you catch her at 33” in a year or two! waytogo

Before snapping that pic I held her against the ruler with the tail back I’m confident she was all of 32″ if not a bit more… Since I was fishing solo out of our cabin boat a good pic was tough and I just wanted to get her back in the water quickly. To me it wasn’t worth keeping her out longer to try and get better pics. I’m happy either way and best of all she released great! waytogo

Fishing new lakes in the small boat is a lot of fun and I guess I’ll need to start bringing my bump board along too toast

Thankfully the pinch police has refuted the measurements!
Pretty sure Will has caught plenty of trophy walleyes to know what a 32″ fish looks like…easy 12 to 14 lbs!
    Nice one Will!

Nice looking rig, love those bench seat boats.

Goes to show what’s in some smaller lakes vs all the big name lakes.

I only said that so I could be the one causing the trouble for once. I have a fish with just about exact same measurements on my wall caught in end of September a few years back was 12.5lbs. Now need to catch one that length just before ice over so all them eggs can add a couple pounds.

    Ed,

It actually fought a lot like a big pike. You could tell it was a nice fish but it came in fairly easily until right by the boat then it made several drag peeling runs under the boat and all over… I had my rod almost fully in the water as it went under the boat. A lot of times a big walleye will just come in with dead weight but this one sure didn’t.

Once I had it to the surface it took another several small runs before I could get her head turned into the net vs trying to net her tail first which is a bad idea for a big fish.

    Will
