    Looks like a chicken but the color is more like a hen.

    Old nasty Chicken…100%

    It’s way past prime and rendered inedible

    You want to pick them when they’re still growing and bright/vibrant. The smaller the better.

    Big ones full of color are edible, but they get woody

    Thanks, that’s what I thought but needed a second opinion. The one I found was delicious.

    Not meaning to cast aspersions on any of the posters here, but I’d never take mushroom identification advice from any internet forum source. Just sayin’ there’s a lot of nut cases on the internet, in case ya haven’t noticed. grin
