    I’ve heard several times that the Minnesota River was fished commercially for smallies years ago. Based on that information, I was surprised to not see more smallies represented in the sampling. I also thought the number of Gizzard Shad was amazing for this part of the country… occurring naturally none-the-less. Probably not knew to someone else but it surprised me. Wonder if there are more recent studies since so many of the industrial complexes in New Ulm, Mankato, and those that were formerly dumping into the Blue Earth river are no longer doing so.
