Driving directions around Minneapolis

    Hey guys.I am looking for tips on the best way around /through Minneapolis coming from the south on 35 going to Mille Lacs.Looks like 35 to 494 alonmg the west side of town then then 94 to 169 on up to the lake.Towing a boat so I am not real eager to deal with any more traffic than I have to.Any help would be much apreciated.

    What time would you be going thru & what day? I would take 35w to 494 north to 94 west to 101 north at Rogers, then pickup 169 in Elk River. But again it depends on the time of day.

    I’d just take (35) 35E at the split right through downtown St. Paul. Comes back together in Forest lake. The construction is not a problem right now. Make sure you pay attention to the signs and get/stay in the correct lanes.

    Hopefully around 10 am local time monday the 22.Leaving western Ks Sunday morning with 2 kids and a my lab Reese so part of it depends on how well they all travel and the weather forecast for Monday.Still up in the air where we end up stopping for the night on Sunday.

    I wouldnt take any other route than what you suggested if your heading to Millacs. It doesnt make a difference which way you go.. try to avoid rush hour 6-9 am and 3-6 pm +/-.

    494 should be the quickest, most direct route.

    Thanks guys.The local input is great.Maps don’t always tell the whole story on construction etc.Hope to see you all on the lake next week.

    I guess that would depend where you want to end up…east side or west side. IF you are headed to the east side, 35 E will save you an hour easy. Take 35 N to Hinkley and cut over there. If you are headed to the west side, 494 to 169. Just don’t get caught in rush hour over there!

    Ok here goes. 35 to 494 west, to 169 north, to hwy 23 east, to hwy 47N, to north east end of mille lacs, then left on 18. whew….

    I live in apple valley. It takes me 2 hours 20 min to get to wealthwood.

    35E north to willow river take the exit thur willow river to 41. Keep following it and it brings you out right at malmo market.
