Labor Day fishing report

    Green Bay off Menominee/Marinette: Salmon continues to dominate the catch with best action north of Green Island and west of Chambers Island in 60* 80* waters. Best catches coming on spoons and dragon flies. Fair Walleye catches reported in the area of Chambers Island.

    Menominee River: Walleye catches in the area of the Turn Basin upstream to Boom Landing Boat Launch, bottom bouncers with crawler harness or F4 size flatfish tipped with crawler working. Early A.M. and late P.M. hours producing best catches. Other species caught Sturgeon, Catfish, Smallmouth.

    Green Bay off Cedar River: Excellent Salmon action taking place in the area of Whaleback Shoal in waters 65* to 80*, flies and spoons working. Walleye are in close off from Wells State Park anglers working the late P.M. hours are limiting out fish creeled were 22 to 26 inch. Planner boards trailing crawler harness or stick bait working best. Boat angler pressure high this past week.

    Cedar River: Smallmouth Bass active at the mouth of the Marina inlet several 17 to 19 inch fish creeled casting spinners or stick baits. Walleye catches taking place in the late evening hours from the river mouth upstream to the M35 bridge.

    Get out and get fishing!

    hey tom, are there any good shore spots on the cedar river? and how late do the fish generally stay in that area, any info would be great

    Hey BigDog! I have had some good Salmon action throwing Cleos and crankbaits along the north shoreline right in the mouth near the boat landing and up the river to the first rapids. Let us know how you do.

    Thanks Tom, Is all that area public? how long will those fish be catchable? May not make it up for a couple weeks

    The Marina and much of the shoreline is accessible. It will not peak for 2-3 weeks yet. There is a State Park just south of the river mouth, ( J.W.Wells State Park).

    Here is the mouth of the Cedar River. The boat launch is to the left of the picture. This pic is from the M-35 highway bridge. Soon Salmon will be rolling in this picture.
