Wondering if anyone knows of some sort of lube for my trolling motor shaft? (older Minnkota) It’s extremely hard to get loose from its stored position. Once I get it moving, it slides real nice. But getting it there is real PITA! Any suggestions?

anything else from vaseline to grease will need to be an ongoing process!!!!!!

Some fine grit to smooth the shaft should help quite a bit.
I find ‘ejecting’ the trolling motor with authority to work best.July 14, 2020 at 9:02 am #1957065Spray silicon. Everything else will leave a film that will collect dirt and cause more problems.

@Jetboatdave I assume there is a replacement for the rubber if that’s the issue?July 14, 2020 at 10:17 am #1957092/jetboatdave/” rel=”nofollow”>@jetboatdave I assume there is a replacement for the rubber if that’s the issue?

July 14, 2020 at 10:17 am #1957093Silicone spray works for a while but you’ll have to re-apply every couple weeks.
A new terrova would solve the issue without a doubt!July 14, 2020 at 10:59 am #1957106A new terrova would solve the issue without a doubt!
A soon as you get the 36V, I’ll buy yours!
July 14, 2020 at 11:43 am #1957125any teflon spray is what I would try. seafoam makes one I have used on my snow blower and that is some slick stuff. spray wax should work great

Good ‘tips’ here guys. Anyone else?
All jokes aside, some good ideas here. Most of us will deal with it at some point.

You guys a really growing up.July 14, 2020 at 6:34 pm #1957250Pre-treating the shaft before “fishing” seems to help from getting sticky I find. But there are those times when the fishing was that good that you worked it a little harder.

I had to re-write my original post about 3 times before posting. Everything I typed up had some kind of innuendo attached to it.. Kinda hard to do sometimes.
July 15, 2020 at 7:55 am #1957359A light coating of silicone plumbers grease has worked for me. Have to reapply once or twice a season. But it works great on my PD2. Clean it with lighter fluid before applying to remove any stuck on dirt or grit.
