Boat Speed

    Does the HDS-5 Gen2 measure and show boat speed on the screen? I haven’t seen a picture of that anywhere. It would be nice to see speed for trolling.

    HDS units have gps so yes they can display speed, depending on if you have it as an overlay.

    All in the overlay options. Lots of things you can add. From personal experience be careful buying lowrance right when they launch a new product…. But atleast its on a proven out platform of the gen 1.

    You will need to edit your Overlay Data. You can move it anywhere on your screen, choose between 3 sizes, make it black or white and you can also choose “Bezel” which makes it white with a black box background making it easier to see.

    It’s pretty nifty. I want to see speed and depth in large numbers, voltage in medium size and time and time to destination in smaller numbers. AND I want the info where it makes sense to me.

    The only “bad” thing about this is I have to set up each page, but once it’s set up…it’s a done deal.
