Leeches??

I’ll be spending most of the next 2 weeks at Mille Lacs. Curious to know if there is a leech shortage up there and where I can find some on the way up?

Prince’s bait has always had a great supply in the past

I’ve heard the long winter impacted the supply this year. if shops have any at all they will be small. I just heard Steve from Portside and they have small ones.

I stopped at Portside last Sunday and they were out. Cenex in Malmo has a few, but mostly panfish size. Tutts said they “might” get some this week. Most every place I’ve called is out.

Trailside on 47 has leeches now but just the small. About time to be dropping small suckers down on bigger jigs.

I just heard this weekend from a supplier that the leeches have already spawned and went into hibernation mode. He wasn’t sure why so early, but said that is the reason for the very short supply.

Haven’t been there for a few weeks, but tales and trails in Zimmerman on 169 had decent sized leeches last time I was there.
