While I agree that you have the right to decide the wedding is more important than your job, your employer or your crew, you show your true self when you say you would lie when called for trace contacting. It shows you don’t have the guts to accept responsibility for your own actions.

That is a huge pile is schmidt and I find it hilarious. Should we all admit to big brother that we ran in to some one so once again they can try to shut your life down and take the kids and let them do anything they might want to do.
It has nothing to do with showing responsibility. As I assume every one of you goes to the gas station and the grocery store at your own free will at least once a week. What a joke to say you are helping play your part while still running around when you need some skittles

It is also hilarious that you think running into a gas station for less than 5 minutes is the same as being at a 300 person wedding. So if you got real sick after the wedding you wouldn’t tell your friends and loved ones who I am sure some others would also be sick that you tested positive. You sound so nice to the family and friends you have.

I guess some of you are not understanding the repercussions of saying “yes” when the government calls you about going to a private event.

You will never get a phone call for going into a Target, Walmart, Menards, Lowes, local restaurant, etc etc.

Yet some feel it’s okay for the government to track you at a private event and force you and anyone they can trace into taking a test? All while shutting down your life and anyone else they can trace that was near you?? (All of your workplace included)

The Governor of Minnesota was at my kid’s first day of Kindergarten. I walked within 10′ of him. Do you think he and everyone he was around is in quarantine until their test results come back?? After all, there were people there with Covid……(just like EVERY PLACE YOU GO)

How about if you are too sick to take care of yourself at home you come to hospital? We are here waiting to do our jobs. If armageddon really happens, the hero’s at the hospitals will step up and the pussies at the hospitals will bitch about their PPE warehouse and go home. NOT ONE AMERICAN during this whole thing has been denied care because their was not room or supplies to take care of them.

You can talk all you want about positives but they are just using that data to hold you down. You would never be tested for anything else in our society unless it aided in driving YOUR specific route to recovery. This virus is uniformly in everyone’s community. There is no spread to stop or slow down anymore. If you are sick in the hospital, we will test you to confirm our route of treatment. Any other testing is a complete waste of time and resources. plain and simple

there are 2 populations that people are part of:

1.) the elderly and the vulnerable. ( If you want to do what will work (aka, you are concerned for your life) Stay home!, I cannot protect you and the mask will not protect you.) But you also are an American and are free to live how you want.

2.) Everyone Else. The Data is plenty clear. The risks to you are the same or less than everyday living. You are an American as well and you can live how you want.

Long story short. DO NOT GET TESTED! If you are sick (like for real sick), go to the hospital. Live your life how you want! If you are scared or feel you are vulnerable, stay home! DO NOT GET TESTED!!!!

Yes, big brother is closing in by the second. I expect before I die to be snatched up and taken to the secrete holding grounds in the Bermuda Triangle. (it’s the government that leaked area 51 as the holding area to throw us off!) At least i’ll have a heads up when the tanks roll down the streets looking for my guns.

Please explain the difference. If you are exposed you are exposed correct. Grabbing your diet dew or having dinner with a group.
The governers pic above explains it all.

Should you be surprised? Don’t they always?

As much as most of us have in common on this forum, it’s still curious how far apart some are on the extreme ends.

I suppose just a microcosm of divisions escalating in our country/world today.

Learn some world history and the events today are little different than they were generations ago. Look at the divisions and dissent in certain parts of the world leading up to WW1 and WW2.

Getting back to this little IDO “toy story” it’s some of the hypocrisy that some exhibit.

“The government is destroying our economy”, says the guy shopping for a new boat.

“The government is infringing on our rights”, says the guy who has no qualms about infringing upon others.

“I expect the truth”, says the guy who willingly lies.

“I respect the opinions of other’s” says the guy who then jokes or mocks the opinions they don’t agree with.

So far to date, an indoor wedding in Marshall in August has been the single largest group event resulting in infections in this state. Super spreading event on a large scale. Large indoor gatherings are a big no no. I’d feel terrible if I insisted on having my own wedding during this and then found out that 75 people got sick from it and a few people died. No wedding is worth that. Post pone it for a year or have it outside in a smaller group.

Bearcat89 our opinions on big brother and how badly the government has bungled everything about COVID are probably closer than you’d think. My problem with B-man was the way he was trying to sound like he was looking out for his employer and co-workers by saying he was willing to lie to keep them all working instead of just admitting the wedding was more important to him than anything else.
By the way I HATE fricken skittles.

Sturgis was one of the biggest spreaders in this country I thought?

Yet the hundreds of protests didn’t get a single infection…..

It spreads where the media wants it to shock

    Strange isn’t it????

PatK, I hope you’ve worn a full face respirator and not gotten within 10′ of another human being for the last 8 months.

If you haven’t done both, you’ve put lives at risk and should be ashamed of yourself.

Sturgis was mostly outside but yes it did result in a large quantity of infections that would classify as a super spreading event because people packed inside into bars there. Protests are also mostly outside and most of them are wearing masks. I’m not condoning either one, I’m just stating the reasons why they are not as likely to have exponential increase of infections. Large indoor gatherings are worse. Way worse. Like indoor weddings with lots of guests. Or bars with lots of patrons. Clearly both have been problems here in this state and elsewhere.

Hey B-man, look on the bright side. Seeing as how you are from Minnesota, if you were to give up on society, collect welfare, and be a baby daddy, they would probably suggest naming a street after you. Seems to be how they do things there lately.

    I stand on the hill.

I stand at the bottom of the hill looking up at the fool on the hill.

The fool on the hill looking at the fool at the bottom of the hill.

I can see all, but my closed mind will only allow me to see what I want to see.

Never mind that there is another world out there that see’s another side.

I see only what I want to see because I have not the courage to look beyond my own small world of comfort and security, or bravado.

I do not look outward, only inward. That way all I see is me, and it is all about me…isn’t it?

I cannot consider another side that opposes my view of how the world should be.

But I live in my own world, why should I care about the world everyone else has to live in?

Am I the fool on the hill? Or the fool on the bottom of the hill?

    Let’s have a sing-along to help us decide…

I am not a doctor and not an expert, but from what i have read, part of the covid infection equation usually involves the length time you are exposed. Longer time exposed equals a greater likelihood of being infected. Everything else being equal, this presumably makes an elbow touch or a quick trip into a store much less likely to lead to infection compared to an hours long indoor activity with an infected individual.

Nope. Masks required and there’s social distancing. There are no masks or social distancing at bars or indoor weddings.

I walked into a bar/grill yesterday to pick up an order of food to go and the bar was literally packed with people shoulder to shoulder drinking beer, laughing, and socializing. No masks. That’s the sort of behavior that is going to keep schools closed.

    Andy,

Could you show me in my post where I said anything about the economy? This thread was about schools, Covid risk to kids , and how we are being punished for positive tests that are clearly not “lagging” into what they promised they would.

Am I worried about myself and family? Not one little bit. I did do something about it, my wife and I made it a priority. My boys go to everyday private school. So you know, the “haves” will continue to separate from the “held back” “ have nots”.

My wife has a co-worker and her daughter got COVID. Daughter brought it home from a party. Daughter had minimal symptoms, but her Mom got the bad version of Covid. Spent the better part of 6-weeks living in a personal hell. Sounds like she’s finally on the mend. Then there’s the 4 other people living in her household…. Not 1 of them even test positive for it. For a virus that is supposed to be so contagious, how does that work?

This COVID bug is nothing short of a mystery. Who knows what to believe or what info you can trust. While I try and stay out of the conspiracy weeds, sometimes you read or hear something that just makes you scratch your head.

According to the school district my kindergartener attends, this week is the week where if COVID cases don’t decline to the States recommended number, they will be going to Hybrid. While I fully expect complete closure by Thanksgiving, I was holding out hope for more time before we got to this point.

I have read in a few places that they are thinking that certain blood types are more susceptible than others to contract covid. There are several studies going on testing that theory. That may explain it a bit. It is amazing how little they now about it.

Do you understand that the staff at schools are not kids and that a large percentage are in higher risk categories – age, underlying health conditions, etc.?

Also, do you understand that kids can spread COVID even if they rarely die from it? Siblings, parents, grandparents, neighbors and others are at increased risk if exposed to infected (even if asymptomatic) kids.

Does everyone understand all of these people are still at risk regardless of whether schools close or not? I really don’t understand the pro-closure people’s rational, that as long as schools are closed everyone (students, at-risk teachers etc.) is safe. For whatever reason this thing doesn’t impact kids as much as adults, so imo schools should be fully open and any teachers that don’t feel safe can run the online schooling for kids that opt out, and if there’s too many teachers opting out than online teaching needs, they should be able to take the year on unemployment. FWIW my 2 year old has been in a daycare center the entire time, no teachers sick, no students sick, and luckily he hardly knows what’s going on beyond wearing a mask periodically.

Half an hour of holistic medicine babble. No thanks. It’s not that holistic medicine doesn’t have a place in health care, but it is not the ultimate answer to the large majority of medical problems and certainly not to pandemics.

No, the Bible has nothing to do with it. Check out the information on his web site and perspectives from other medical professionals. Holistic medicine works well for individuals, doesn’t work well for public health. It don’t scale…
