Anyone have any success on said lake? Heading up this weekend.
Thanks.
I was there a few (2-3) years ago in early Mid August. The area just had a Major Cold Front in the area. So the bite was a little off, but we fished the very North end of the lake before dumpining into the Namakan Narrows. We concetrated on the Shallow Rock Piles with deep water close by (look for the buoys). We caught Northern, Smallies and Eyes. The HUGE Northern were on the chew. Casting Dr. Spoons and BIG Top Water Baits got them going. The eyes and Smallies were btiing on Jigs and Leeches right on the steep breaks off the rock piles 12-20′.
Good luck and let us know how you do.
Sand Point turned in a good showing for us last saturday.
We pulled a good number of walleye, a few small mouth mixed in. Different from last year, we caught no fish over the slot. All the fish were smaller than last year, could have been our location and techniques that were bringing in the bigger ones wouldn’t work this year.
All in all, great trip and look forward to the return in 08.
