I tend to trophy fish gills and crappie and I’ve caught and released more than any fisherman’s fair share. But the one day my buddy and I say “let’s keep a few for supper”, we have to fight and scrap all day just to put a few 9” crappie on the ice.

    I know that feeling…sort of.

Trying to catch a few for a meal and end up catching one or two.

Next time out after an hour or so, catch one and think I’m not going to bother keeping and eating one crappie and I let it go. Soon another is caught and let that go too. After catching and releasing a few more, I realize if I was keeping from the start I’d have enough for a meal. Too late… sad
