A great day to be on the ice. Sunny, mild wind, temp above 25* just beautiful.

Terry, Dick and myself started out with the crowds, but knowing the Lake like we do, moved quickly.

Found ourselves in an area we normally pound in spring, then to find dozens of bass and bluegill piled up in 12 feet of water.

We jigged, and finessed for 2 hours, just to get a couple of runts.

The contest was coming to a close, when in 30 minutes we caught 50 gills & bass, and some real nice gills, the bass were average 12-15 inches…no keepers. “It figures”, we kept telling ourselves..ran our big gill up, just to be short by 3 oz to the winner.

I was fortunate enough to win the Big Bass prize..$100

    gift certificate to R&L Marine..

We looked at the solunar table for active times:

1:45-3:45pm….. well that was accurate, should have consulted that first!!

A very memorable time on the ice, at the fisheree this year. Considering the last 2 years we didn’t have enough

“safe” ice to fish on. Wish I had the camera.
