i know it seems way too early – about 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule down here.
but i found these fresh yellows yesterday.
spied a dead elm down the hill as i was checkin a south-facing field edge. picked a few and headed down the fenceline.
looked back at the elm that was just starting to slip bark on an upper limb and thought “good tree, but north slope, too early,” but had to go back and check and i’m glad i did.
finding yellows this soon makes me think the season is gonna wrap up pretty quick.

    Nice ones!
We are supposed to get down to 23 degrees tonight in SE MN…that should kill everything that’s up

Went out on Monday and found about 25 tiny ones that were drying up. Went back a couple days there and they are same size and junk. We need some rain and not frost.
