Good news: There is up to 4 inches of ice in spots on the chain. There are lots of problem areas, so know where you are going before heading out.
Bad news: there is 6-7 inches of new snow on top of the 4 good inches we had. They are also forcasting another 2-4 tommorrow… 
After drilling just a few holes, there was water coming up and creating a real mess. 
Lets hope for some continued real cold weather and no more snow for a while.

Becareful out there, last Tuesday it was wide open from East to Cedar Island. Becker has pretty good ice, as long as you don’t use the River Access 
I have been itching to get out on the chain. But it is still to unsafe for me to get to some of my favorite spots. I did see an ATV on Bolfling today. Also lots snowmobile tracks on the ice. There is 5-6 inches on some of the more wind protected lakes in the area and that were I will be the next couple of days if the wind is wrong for my hot deer stand.
