Heading up to URL Friday. Doing a sleeper through red lake ice cabins. Any suggestions on a good place to stop and get bait? Last year we weren’t all that impressed with the couple bait shops close to the lake.

If we don’t buy bait before we leave town, we have always had good luck at westwind resort

Red EyePosts: 885December 7, 2019 at 1:18 pm #1896034Thanks ! We will look into it. Hopefully the fishing is good. Heading up there Friday morning and leaving Tuesday.

Good bait at good prices, gas, diesel, and a liquor store in the same parking lot.
I don’t go crazy on the amount of bait I buy in GR, and prefer to buy from the resort, but I’ve been burned or rationed before just before getting on the ice.

Plus some of the bartenders aren’t to bad on the eyes.

Timberline in Blackduck is a great spot. I believe the owner, Carl, will be on the IDO show tomorrow. They have the best staff and usually the best bait in the area. I grew up in Blackduck and live in the metro now but still go back to Timberline for all my major fishing/hunting purchases.

Was this bartender hard on your eyes at Barnacles?
