You can get imaging while sitting still…

So basically rotating side imaging like DrDepth does already or WarrenG did.

This would be pretty cool for ice fishing…

In a different way, this will compete with Structure Map. A little different way of fishing the structure you see on the side imaging but you don’t have to make a pass of the area first…

The transducer setup looks like the MinnKota Talon…yuk.

    Agreed, cool feature though.

For it to work ideally it has to be like this I guess…I wouldn’t think you would need so much travel but I suppose to cover everybody.

It’s cool that current units can use it too…

If things go right I’m completely re-rigging this year electronics wise, I was firmly with Lowrance, now I’m not sure…

BTW, I’m hearing $2000 for the add on…

Seems a bit high, I need to verify. I suppose, similar to the cost of a talon + a side imaging transducer plus another motor (unless they’re smart enough to integrate the stowing merchanism with the scanning mecahnism) plus rotary position snensor.

    But if that’s the case…I’m out…

I’d have that thing broken off on my first trip out

The deployment apparatus is the deal breaker for me. Along with the deployment system, comes a large chunk of the cost.

I would think they would be missing the boat (pun intended) of they didnt just offer a stand alone head for a person to use as they like. The applications for ice fishing are endless, particularly in a permanent shack.

    And spin it yourself?

BTW, you can use your current side imaging unit in your shack, you just have to learn to read your unit:

And if you have a unit with ethernet, you can get what Humminbird just released on a PC using DrDepth for ~$339

I guess it depends on what spins on the new unit… If the head itself spins, or the crystals within the head spin.

I seen the stuff Warren Parsons done with his apparatus. Cool technique with conventional equipment.

I am going to say 3-5, with they way technogy advances it would not take much for them to get there.

That one will be spendy, you either have to have a really fast scanner, or an array of crystals.

The fast scanner is not likely IMO, too noisy and too much power.

The array of crystals is probably more likely, not sure how the price will scale though with more crystals. You’ll need a driver/receiver for each.
