Mowing clover question?

I’m a first timer with clover and a novice food plotter. The clover came in pretty good mixed with chicory. It is about knee high in some spots. Do I need to mow it down? To what height? We have a tractor with a brush cutter, but I was nervous that the tractor would crush the clover. The plot is pretty small. I could also just whack it down with a weed trimmer. What do you guys think? Thanks for the advice.

When the white flowers show up I trim it down I set the mower as high as it will go about 6-8 inches And don’t worry about flattening it Clover is tough and will stand back up soon enough

If you don’t have weeds about to seed out I would leave it til the end of augest then mow it to about 8 inches. Don’t worry about crushing it, just don’t turn hard, grinding it in. If its a really small plot think about adding a 50# bag of 12-12-12 fertilizer after mowing to give it a boost to maximize your tonnage, it will cost less than 15 dollars.
