Looking to put wiring into my 1990 16′ Tracker. When I remove the decking in the back, there is a foam filling every cavity. Can I cut some of this out and place a battery box and battery in there then hatch the decking above, or will it mess up the float of the boat? I am going to use front end for battery storage for trolling motor under casting deck. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

The foam is floatation material if you should sink. It won’t change the way your boat floats, well unless the weight of the batteries on one side of the boat does. The floatation is a safety thing, the choice is yours.
