By Golly…I think if a fisheries bioligist says it’s a Green Sunfish, I’d place my money on him.

Hey Slop Bass…in your opinion..do you think it’s a green sunfish?

Hey SB! Did anyone ever talk to Carptracker about what kind of fish this was…..

I’m sorry. It was too windy to fish today, so I had to do some yard work and I’m a little giddy….

Definitely NOT a google-eye or warmouth. We catch those down in the basin (Atchafalaya) in Louisiana. Color and markings are different. They’ll hit any bass lure you throw at ’em – especially worms and other soft plastics.

Other fish we catch down there: Choupique (bowfin), Gaspergou (drum), sac-a-lait (crappie), alligator gar.

I agree with slopbass on this, but to who ever was the one who said it was a cross between a bass and a sunfish, it is physicly impossible to cross these two speciese, it’s evan rare to see hybreds come out of bass and they are evan in the same class(osteichthyes). so bass and sunfish?

Looks to me like there wasn’t a conclusive answer. Wonder if @carptracker is still around.

Uh, I’m telling you its a greeny. I’m a fisheries biologist. It’s my job. Its a greeny. No doubt whatsoever.

It’s hard to tell his degree of certainty of this. I hope his email notifications are on. He could probably direct us to someone with the knowledge
    and background to answer this.

Well I sure hope this “carptracker” resurfaces. I have a bet with a buddy on whether this is a black bullhead, brown bullhead or yellow bullhead. Anyone else know, ’cause there’s a lot of money involved. wink

It was hard to tell from that angle, so I ran it through software that can replicate another view.
