If anyone is planning a fishing trip to the St Johns River in Florida, I am going to plug the best plase to stay. It is about 10 minutes south of Palatka and is called Georgia Boys Fish Camp http://www.georgiaboysfishcamp.com .
I recently stayed there, and they treat you absolutely great!
This is a mom and pop place right on Dunns Creek, which connects the St Johns to Crescent lake. They have several cabins that range anywhere from motel room size, to 3 bedrooms. The place is clean and well maintained.
The guy spent a couple of days fishing Specs, (crappies), and put on a fish fry for everyone staying at the camp. Complete with fresh french fries, beans, cole slaw, hush puppies and cake for desert!
For a 1 week stay, they were about $50 more than a budget motel. Trust me, it was worth a whole lot more than that.
This post is completely unsolicited, and I have no connection to Georgia Boys other than the fact that I stayed there. They just treated me THAT GOOD!
