I am heading to Big Stone this weekend for there opener and looking for any help in where to start. Never fished it and have heard to pitch jig and minnows to the shorelines, but wondering which shorelines. Also wondering what to do in daylight hours? Should I troll, or pull livebait in deeper water? I know it is shallow and clear so alot of time will be spent in the dark.

Its been a few years, the best fishing we had early was within a half a mile of the top end of the lake drifting or moving slow with small jigs in 3 to 7′ of water. We caught alot of 12″ to 16″ fish. In the evening we bobber fished a small hump mid lake and did ok. The best thing you can hope for is the algae bloom hasnt started yet. Its pretty nasty stuff. Good luck
