Wisconsin boat trailer question

    I live in Iowa and am purchasing a boat/motor/trailer from a Wisconsin resident. Are trailers registered there as they are here in Iowa? And need to be signed off at the sale? I would assume so but current owner doesn’t seem to think that is the case.

    No plates for trailers in Wisconsin and cheap fishing licenses for us old guys.

    depends on the boat, trailers rated for over 3300 lbs. need to be registered.

    This was my recollection as well although I had it in my head the number was 3000 lbs. Anything under did not require registration.

    Thanks. Hard to believe they don’t tax you on those smaller trailers.
