Looking to purchase one of these trucks. It is a 4X4 crew cab with 3.21 gears in the back with the Hemi and 8 speed tranny. Does anyone have something similar to this set up that can give me an estimate of real life MPG?? Sticker says 15-21 but they are usually high and would like to see what people are actually getting. searched the google and very limited info out there.

    thanks!

the easiest way to gain fuel mileage is take then cats off the exhaust. My wife’s echoboost gain 4&1/2 mpg at 75. Remember when the manufacturer says 21mpg highway. They are doing that at 60mph

Well, I know its not the same truck, but my Chevy 1/2 ton with the 5.3 v8, 6 speed tranny, 3.21 gears, 4×4 with 20″ wheels and slightly oversized tires can get 19-20 mpg on the hwy going around 70mph, empty of course.

You will average about 17 or 18 overall. Cruising down the hwy, keep it at 70 and under, 20 is realistic. That HEMI & 8 speed combo, sips the gas when cruising

3.21 gears? If you plan on pulling or hauling anything, you may not like that gearing setup.

I have the 3.55 in my 10 f150 and like it. But I would now prefer the 3.73 because I’m now hauling a pickup camper and boat at the same time.

Ford has a 3.31 that I drove and hated it. Drive more like a small Eco friendly car that a vehicle made for working.

Thanks for all the replies. I missed the boat on the deal with the 8 speed tranny. Now the deal is on a 6 speed tranny. Any thoughts on how the 6 speed will do with 3.55 in the rear?

My old mans ecoboost is a 6 speed with 3.55 rear end. Now granted it has a little less hp but more torque. It gets 17-19 mpg pulling his lund. IMO no other company can come close to the economy and power coming out of the 3.5 liter v6 ecoboost.

From what I have been reading I am hearing the EcoNoost guys are finding the mileage estimates to be total BS. No better and possibly even worse than a standard 5.7L with 3.55 in the rear.

Picked up my 2013 Ram 1500 5.7/8spd Laramie Monday. So far on 121 miles avg 21.4mpg. Looking at this week end to get out and run it. So far so good. I will report back after more miles. I have not brought the Grady White home yet, will see what a 6000lb trailer will do to MPG.
