Boat Disposal

I have a friend that needs to get rid of 3 fiberglass boats and trailers. They are worth nothing but she wants them removed from the property. They are sitting in Elroy WI. She is willing to pay to have them hauled away. Does anyone do this anymore? I know it is getting harder every day to get rid of crap.

Any suggestions would be a help.

    Thanks in advance!

How much….? I have a sawzall and it shouldn’t be too much to chunk those boats into movable pieces.

A little more info on what they want to get rid of.

    18.5ft Bayliner with a 130hp inboard/outboard and trailer. Late 70’s early 80’s model
18ft not sure if brand or year with a 90hp Merc. Ad trailer.
14ft Sears Ted Williams Series, no motor with trailer.

Sounds like there is a little more to it than just sawzall work

Snoop around the internet for marine salvage companies. They may come pick them up if there is no charge. The inboard and outboard will have some salvage value, the boats nada. But those companies know how to get rid of the fiberglass.

Put it in the FREE section of Craigslist and I’ll bet they are gone in an hour.

There is no such thing as a destruction job that (in proper hands) a sawsall can’t handle

I agree with the marine salvage yard though…
or maybe a regular junk yard??

Doesn’t rawhide want something that still runs?
And these need to be picked up.

Damn near anything will grow legs and disappear if listed in the ‘Free’ section on Craigslist

i believe they don’t have to be running – the boys work on the motors and stuff for work/skill experience and i believe they will pick them up as well

Yeah I heard that they fix things and get them running too. Runicks recycling is about 5 miles away from Elroy so maybe she could call them and see if they will take them.

Hey here’s an idea let’s buy a couple of old junker pickups, hook up the boats and enter the “Eve of Destruction” trailer race at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway.

Whadya say buddy – sound like fun????

X3 on an ad on Craigs list for free. No matter how bad the boat and motors may be those trailers should still have value.

the trailers have value IF you can find a recycle to take the boat off your hands. Around here, it’s $75 to $125 for a push off. Trailer is worth ~ $125+. Of course, they have to be rollable, but most are if the tires haven’t gone. if she just wants them gone, i’d deal with Rawhide/CL. Sounds like the least headaches.
