tiller steering question..

    I have a 60 horse,tiller, Johnson and I cant figure out how to tighten up the side to side steering..its very loose,when I let go of the handle it flops to the left..I just want to tighten up so motor will stay straight..hope that made sense..thanks

    My Merc has a knob/lever between the powerhead and lower unit. Push it one direction and it tightens it up. Push it the other, and it flops around. I have noticed that I have to tighten the nut on the lever on occasion.
