I think we will be ok for the opener. Called Bud’s Bait the other day and they’re thinking mid week. HOw deep do think the walleyes will be with late ice out? I’ve had luck in 4′ and 18′ over the years. I think the year we busted the eyes in 4′ the weather was warm and stable for a week or two with no ice on the lake. Just curious what you guys think.. Not that I won’t be doing a little trial & error myself.

I’ve only been out there 3 times for the opener and 2 other times than that and seem to find the majority of my fish in the 6-8 foot range. But I think it was 2 or 3 openers ago where it was a little earlier ice out and I also found a few more fish shallow.I’ve spent alot of my time there around manhatten island and done ok.

Just talked to Bud’s Bait. The ice is out the first ten miles from ortonville,, the rest should go out in the next day or two.
