I had the day off today so I hit the water with a buddy for the morning. We fished Okauchee Lake for bass. It ended up being a pretty decent morning with most of the bass coming off of beds. No big mama females up yet but some nice 14-17″ males. We fishing a lot of different bays and had trouble finding numbers of fish shallow until mid morning. Weeds were not up as much in many areas like I thought they would. Nothing doing on fast moving baits. All the bass came on beds and a few off of docks. I think there is still a lot of fish that are staging on the edges. Didn’t see a lot of fish up shallow cruising. We fish for gills and crappies for about a half hour but only managed a handful of small gills and crappie. Only saw a couple of boats all morning. Water temps ranged from 59-63 degrees.

Did you manage to avoid the wind?

not to bad until the last hour. A little rough ride on the way back to the landing.
