Fellow IDO’er “I TRY HARD” and I headed up for first trip of the fall last night. Got going on the water about 8 pm. Had a box full by 930. It was absolute chaos in the Skeeter. I forgot the net in my truck. Needless to say two 28’s came in by hand. Countless fish between 22-24 one 25 n one 27inch. We caught fish in pretty much every year class from 14 inch to 28. One smallie came in at 19.5. Oh, and one muskie hit a 15 inch walleye at the boat. It was a tremendous start to the fall frenzy. Water temps 55-56 in 8fow. Just pulled #12’s, everytime you would go over a small rockpile Speeds were 1.7 early and slowed to 1.4 later. Good luck to everyone.

Thats good news.
I made a day trip out there yesterday and we also found some fish willing to bite a crankbait. I hadn’t been up there for a month and a half, so I was pretty happy with what we found. We concentrated on rock/sand transitions in 20-25 feet. I think we ended the day catching 10 walleyes, 2 Northerns, and about 30 perch. We ended up keeping 6 of the walleyes and 15 perch for a fish fry next weekend at Pheasant camp. I’m hoping I can still make it up there again this year to try some fishing after dark.

October 11, 2010 at 8:08 pm #903635Pictures? Hopefully you didn’t leave the camera in the truck too. Two 28″ in one night surely deserved some photo’s.
October 12, 2010 at 2:27 am #903731Wow that is some awesome news…best report I have heard in a long time…..What were you pulling? HJ? Rouges? etc.
What was the water temp?October 12, 2010 at 11:30 am #903761Nice job
On sunday night our boat had similar numbers in the boat but lacked the size.October 12, 2010 at 11:33 am #903762#12’s pink, Blue/silver with orange belly. Rogues didn’t produce. Tried a few others. Clown, firetiger, Tennessee Shad, black/gold, holographics all would not produce.
October 12, 2010 at 1:21 pm #903779Nice to hear a good report! Care to share which side of the lake you were on?
October 12, 2010 at 5:31 pm #903865That’s a helluva shift. 13.5 hours in the boat in one stretch deserves the iron man award!!
inge66Posts: 366October 14, 2010 at 12:08 am #904203We were on the east side and I wish we were out there for 13.5 hours. 8 PM TO 0130 AM.. Was one of those nights that we have not had in quite some time.
How heavy do you think that a 28 1/2″ fish would be right now. We not only didnt have a net but no scale also. If I had to guess it was very close to 10lbs.
Cant wait to get back up on 10-22 and 10-23. Who else is gonig to be up there. We are also going to try and kill some grouse during the day. Anyone got any ideas where to start to find the grouse???
October 16, 2010 at 4:59 pm #904583Several options looking for Grouse…
If you’re staying by Red Door the Wealthwood State Forrest is right accross the road.
In Malmo head East on Hwy 2 about 10 miles and there is an abundance of excellent grouse hunting country open to the public.
If you want a place on your way to the lake head up Hwy 47 and just about the whole area is West of 47 between Ogilve and Isle is state land and excellent for grouse.
