I was wondering if anyone fishes either Hickory Grove or Peterson Pits? I fished panfish on these lakes while attending Iowa State and did quite well. My wife wants to spend a few days this winter at her folks in Ankeny and I was planning to give them a try again.

Hey fellow Cyclone, If I were in Ankeny I’d go out to Big Creek. They loaded it with predators to control the shad, plus it has some nice crappies. I bet I caught 50 13″ walleyes in the deep trench between the rockpiles that top out at about 9′ and the shore on hte east sied just north of the bay with the disabled fishing pier. This was in May- so it’s a safe bet that the fish are bigger now.

Hickory Hills was redone recently and it’s got lots of nice gills and specks a/k/a crappies too.

Don’t know nuthing about the pits.
