Fall has still produced fish – even in 48 degree water

    Small plastics as usual have caught bass and panfish in two lakes. A high wind signaled the approach of a front and that’s when things got interesting. These were caught in the last two weeks:

    replies don’t get posted right away. Usually many hours after or not at all.

    Here’s my reply 20 min. ago:
    OTher than bass, yellow and white perch, crappie, sunfish and this rather large pickerel were caught:

    All told over 150 fish.

    Got smallies on the River in 42 degree water on blade baits. Had em in my tackle box for 15 years. Couldn’t believe they worked. 4 inches of ice on the lake now. It was a good Fall.

    Goes to show ya – you never know. Good thing fish are cold-blooded and turn on and off at a moment’s notice. Only 3 weeks ago a got into a nice school of crappie in 49 degree water.

    Perch were mixed in the school:

    Now that the temperature in below 40 degrees, it will require more casts to locate fish that will strike.
