Would a 55 terrova have enough power and enough battery for a day of fisihing or should i go with the 80? I plan to get it with i-pilot and will probably use the spot lock pitching shorelines and for verticle jigging and dragging. It will be on a crestliner 1600 fishhawk. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks!

Better get an 80. Depending on what a full day equates to for you (to me it is 12-15+ hours) a 55 might be enough but probably not. I love my 80 terrova, it lasts all day with juice to spare.

Go with the 80
May 20, 2012 at 4:41 pm #1069517Get the 80, I have a 55 powerdrive and it works ok but wouldn’t go that route again. Battery life isn’t great and find myself wanting more quite often. I would also get a bit longer shaft than you need, you could always run the collar higher

You wont regret the power and length….May 21, 2012 at 12:27 am #1069596Thanks guys thats what I was leaning torwards. Its only a couple hundred dollars more to do it now so might as well do it right the first time.
May 21, 2012 at 12:36 pm #1069701I have a 55 lb Terrova on a 16′ Sylvan Backtroller. My answer is, “depends on use”. A lot of river use, I would say go bigger. Lake use, I think my 55 lb is great plenty 98% of the time. Granted, I don’t fish 12+ hours a day, but it has never run down on me in 8 hours.
I agree that bigger is better, but for the price difference in motors as well as finding a place for another battery and the cost of another battery, I am happy with the 55 lb in my situation.
