I guess I’m stuck paying 2 or more for the 2 group 30 batteries I need. Seems like 5 years ago I paid 1. Think I’ll go with Napa.
Course my batteries crap out when I’m way up in Hayward with my wife-Anyway, anyone else making a good battery for less? I could go to Costco and get a Continental, reviews on this site have been pretty mixed for that brand. Anyone else feeling my pain?

Yeah from what I’ve found…unless you’re going with lithium, the middle of the road priced large deep cycles do fine. More than one person have confirmed in the past that many battery brands are produced in one factory, with just different labels slapped on them

Do you have a smaller 16 flat bottom? I’m thinking group 27s would be more then sufficient for you. I’m currently running fleet farm batteries, my last set lasted 6 years if I remember correctly. I think I have 27s in my boat and they push my 17 foot deep v at 3.2 mph and last more then a full day.

    Group 30? I didn’t even realize there was a group 30. I thought it was 24, 27, and 31.

I’ve also got size 27 from fleet farm on my 17.5 foot aluminum boat and have never been under powered. Mine are from 2020 so going on 3 years now. I bought them based on Bearcats advice shortly after he bought his if I remember correctly. My last set lasted 4.5 seasons. I might go with some AGMs next time though.

Battery sizes are 24,27,29, and 31.
29 are about 1/4 of an inch longer than 27’s, but they have more reserve power. Don’t see many 29’s.

I believe intestate for deep cycle only make a 29 and not a 31 anymore. Or maybe it was cranking. Can’t recall. Apparently has same specs as their old 31….
In most cases 27 is plenty.

The fit in the compartment was beyond tight for the 29 so 27 sounds good. Not one to fish all day, sometimes on trips to have some wiggle room juice wise is good.
More than a half hour to get the batteries out, not even sure how they got them in there, doah but 70lbs of gravity working with you is better than the other way around.
