I have a very large chestnut tree in my yard that produces tons of nuts. It is the only one in this area that I, or anyone I have talked to knows of. Wondering if I would be wasting my time to dump some in my woods for the deer(I know the squirrels like them)? If anyone would like some to plant shoot me a p.m. They will grow, and often do sprout up in the mulch in my yard.

I’m reasonably sure the deer will dine on them, but will prefer white oak acorns if they exist in the area.

I found a good recipe on how to ‘roast’ those chestnuts if your interested. I have a large baggie full in my fridge now. Looking to fix ’em up soon.
