Has anyone tried this setup on the river yet? and any luck with it? I tried it for the first time this weekend around Andersen bay with some success. I used the Mustad brand slow death hook and Gulp artificial crawlers.

What about just crawler harnesses? That’s all they use in Saginaw Bay. I never pulled them much here.

Do they twist your line Or are they attached to a lead that is attached to a barrel swivel?

Use 10 pound fluorocarbon and a 6′ to 4′ leader to reduce twist. A ball bearing swivel helps too.

Yes, I used 8lb fluoro for my leader with a barrel swivel and a Lindy no-snag slip sinker. Walleye, sheephead, smallmouth, and a really nice bluegill were all caught on it that day.
