Colvill Ramp No Wake Zones

I fished the Colvill ramp area for the first time yesterday for a couple of hours. It was good just to motor around and check things out. Per the DNR Mississippi River guide book I noticed the no wake zone around Colvill park. I also noticed going downstream from the south launch the end of the no wake zone buoy / sign just a couple of hundred of feet downstream.

However, farther downstream about a half a mile is a single “no wake” buoy in the middle of the river. What’s with that? I did manage to find a group of some small (13″) sauger right when I was going to leave (of course!) caught on a jig/minnow.

That buoy way down steam was moved accidentally and can be ignored. Barge, ice, or tree took it for a ride.

But yes, coleville is no wake. Hard signs on shore

Goodhue County take care of the main channel No Wake Markers. Pierce County does the WI back channel.

Like FBRM said, it’s moved and the departments haven’t been out to move them yet.

    Thanks for the explanation.
