Nisswa Area ice and fishing report!

Things are shaping up after a slow start to the season. Although ice conditions vary the bite has started out fairly decent. Gull lake is producing some decent walleye action along the shorelines we can access and the ice is about 4 inches. A few scattered reports from the small lakes say the crappies have been decent in the mornings and evenings. Most of the small lakes have about 4-6 inches of ice. So far just walking ice but I have seen a couple of anglers using atvs to get out there. But the ice keeps changing each day so I would still use caution. Good luck this week and I’ll try to keep you updated on the changes.

Thanks for posting, there’s normally not much posted here for your area. Won’t be up for another month but hopefully there’s some good weather for making ice.

Ice conditions are good now. We have 6-8 inches in most areas and no real problem areas yet. Fishing has been a little spotty with an occasional good report. We are starting to run with Atvs on Gull and Round. Not much snow out there. Buckshots, macho minnows, and jigging raps have been the best producers in 15-25 feet. We should be able to run the entire lake by midweek. So far we have been hitting the shoreline breaks and some of the closer midlake points and sunken islands. Cold weather the next few days should make a few more inches. Merry Christmas and good luck to everyone.

Making ice pretty good now. Most areas have 8-10 inches plus. The bite has been steady for walleyes, crappies, and northerns. Nothing outstanding but half ways decent. Using Atvs everywhere now with now real problem areas. Gull and Round are both producing some decent fishing the last few days.

The bait shop was crazy busy this weekend, but we survived and anglers caught fish. Ice conditions are great on most lakes. 10-12 inches plus is the norm and they seem to be driving full size and wheelhouses everywhere. Gull and round have been the best for walleyes in the mornings and evenings. Haven’t heard much for pike action but the crappie fishing has been good on Sibley, Middle Cullen, and Pelican lake mostly in the evenings. Cold one out there today but it looks like a great week to get after them. Happy New Year to everyone.

Ice is nice here in the BRD. Getting ready for the Extravaganza on Gull lake this weekend. Should be a good turnout. The bite has been pretty good still. Lots of walleyes on gull and round lakes. They have ran on the small side lately. Crappies are also biting on the small lakes along with a few panfish. The northerns have been a little tight lipped. We’ll be at the bait shop all weekend to get you guys ready to hit the ice. Good luck!
