Black Betty 6061s

at Gander today for 49.99 2.7-1 gear ratio.Can not wait to try.

Heck of a price on a $100 reel.

They were last years model.

What changes did they make between the years? I’m thinking of adding a couple of pannie sticks with 6061s.

I just went over to GM to see if I could get one for $49.99. I asked if it was last years model and the kid said no. I also asked why are they selling them at that price and he said “Black Friday Pricing”. These are the all black model and not the chrome, I don’t know if that makes a difference. None the less, they were out of left hand models. Hopefully I can find one at a decent price at the show.

I was told on this Forum that this years model (the all aluminum colored one) is better than last years model. Smoother and better drag. Last years I think looks cooler being all black with the cork. If you go on 13fishing website they don’t even have the black one anymore only the Aluminum colored. For $50 its probably worth it but it is still annoying that Gander did that. I assume they bought all the reels that 13 had left at a huge discount.

The 2015 aluminum colored ones also have the fender style on the spool so it’s easier to pistol grip and not touch the spool.

Yes the all black 6061 is a 2013 model reel! Hander along with numerous other retailers have been blowing the old 6061’s out for several months at that price! As for them telling you it wasn’t, typical GanderMountain experience! Most of the employees in there stores don’t have a clue!!

Hopefully the older ones aren’t that bad, I picked up two of them at that lower price.

I have some of the older models and have yet to have any issues with them. I think you will really like those reels.

I just went on REEDs, clicked on best price and got the 2015 chrome 6061 for $89.99.

The ones at Gander are the 2014 Models.
