I ordered wire not realizing it was cca. Will that be ok or should get Ofc or tinned copper? I am upgrading to 8 gauge wire for a 24 volt trolling motor.

Personally I will not use copper clad aluminum. First I believe it will need to be a larger gauge size to start with.

A highest number of copper strands for the same wire gauge that are tinned is best.

As Denny mentioned, you need to up-size if using aluminum. Below are the results of a typical bow wiring scenario, 8′ run at 55amp (max). The voltage drop using aluminum is 2X that of copper.

Cool, thanks for the replies. Luckily I only ran wire under the front deck a few feet before checking. Unfortunately it was an area I had to fish it through. Back to the fun of boat rigging once I get new wire.
