If you’re running a gen 3 or older Helix ice unit. And if you’ve switched over to a lithium battery . If your battery indicator is showing low power and you know your battery is full charged or thereabouts. Then upgrade your software if it isn’t already. Go to the setup screen scroll down to battery type and choose the correct lithium battery…

Hey Dave, which software version are you running currently in order to get that option? I finally did the update to my Helix 7 CHIRP GPS G2N. Went from 2.180 to 2.320 and did not end up with that menu option. For whatever reason if the current version was 2.280, the unit would need to be updated to 2.330. Maybe 2.330 has it? I’m in ice mode and running the custom menus. Not a big deal as I can fish all day with the 10ah lithium.

Curious to why they did this? Was the older software showing low power constantly? I haven’t updated in a year or so and I’ve never seen that problem. It always shows 100% until the end but that’s just how lithiums run on most power level readouts.

    Mahtofire 14,
My Helix battery indicator was showing red like 3% even though my lithium battery had a full charge. Not that it was the end of the world because I knew my lithium battery had a full charge but it was just one of those things that wasn’t correct so I wanted to fix it.

Looks like I’m out of luck. 2.660 is not available for my G2N.

even with 2.660 on the G3N, my battery will always show 100%. i’m assuming thats the same for everyone else running a lithium?

Hello Dave, is this just for the ICE Units? I have the Helix 7 GEN 3 Chrip/GPS that I pulled from my boat and I do not have the “battery” option. Unit is set to “Ice” mode.

That is what I see on my G2 unit with a 12AH Amped Battery. And I recently updated my software and the highest available on my unit is 2.330

    Paul D,

I only know about the ice unit.. Thats what I bought and it came with a lead acid battery… I wanted to switch to a Lithium Battery.

If your battery indicator is showing untrue battery levels, you could check to update the software…
