    My favorite color for everything is Pileated Woodpecker. Has the best color combination and variety of hues that can be seen in any color of water (or woods).

    chartuse for cranks

    white for spinner baits

    red shad worms

    clear sparkle for tubes

    topwater anything that makes noise

    black n blue jigs (of course) LOL

    Hey mnfish, before that grin gets too big, I saw a new Rapala and it’s SSR-5 PW. PW? Pileated Woodpecker? In fact, I bought it! You’re right about those “hues”! Bet those Root Smallies ‘d love to get a mouth on that!

    Crankbaits: Crawdad for bass, perch for walleye

    Spinnerbaits: Chartruese/White combo

    Jigs: Black with either blue or brown/chartruese. Grub tails type jigs, black white or chart.

    Worms: Junebug

    Tubes: Smoke with metalflake

    Topwater: Baby bass

    Unfortunately, the Pileated Woodpecker and Root River smallmouth are great buddies, who spend many an evening hanging out at the local log jam! I think it’s called the under-cut saloon!!!
