Just got back from Balsam Lake, with a family of 4 we limited out on crappies. Crappies are biting great on minnows. Most our fish were caught on East Balsam. Water temp (mid 60’s)was warmer than West Balsam, it is also weedier in East. Bass were slow to bite, but we did manage to catch a few keepers in the 15″ range. Wife caught a 18″ muskie, really surprised her, she was just dangling her lure over the boat when all of a sudden her pole bent and the fight was on My 2 kids had a great time catching crappies, they are ready to head back again. Great family vacation

That’s awesome! I’m glad you were able to get on some fish. The crappies have been going nuts in Southern Polk county here also. Been getting them on those little tube jigs. No color doing better than others. Been fun to get the kids out and catch some!
