I have the opportunity to get a great deal on a 2011 Classic 165 Tiller. I know the 2011s are rated for 50hp, 2012s for I think 60hp. What is everyones thoughts? I currently have a Lunker 165 and would put my motor on the Classic. The Lunker weights about 600lbs and Classic is 800. Currently get about 33gps w/Lunker. I realize this won’t be a speed demon, but it would be a much improved ride. Thanks for your thoughts.

I think I would pass on that, unless you plan on upgrading to a larger motor in the future. That’s only 66% of the max HP for this years model, same hull.

I ran a 50 Yammy on my 16.5′ Crestliner and it was much underpowered… That boat needs at least a 50 hp. I’d go 60 hp… That 40 is going to work harder and you may negate your fuel economy advantage over the 50, and lose performance.

Thanks, I think I’ll wait until it’s time to get the boat I really want.
