Yes that is right I landeded a 25lb fish on Saturday with my lovely wife helping at all costs! So it was a CARP! It was still owwww sooo sweeet!

We did our fare share on the walleys also! Same thing for me with Chartruse being the dominant color matched with leeches. Caught only one eye on a crawler.

Looks like a buffalo to me! Carp have little barbels around their mouths.

He mainly Hammers the Eyes with brass and chartruse spinners “backwards spinners” with leaches and crawlers.

Of course being on BS it’s under 10 feet pretty much all year, weedlines, rock piles, you name it he catches Eyes.

No joking SandBurr is the king of BS and catching Walleyes day in and day out nobody can touch him.

He is branching out to other species quite a bit lately…..

I am still pulling my hand tied lindys in the 8-10 foot length. Chartruse and Hammered brass are the go to colors. At the moment leeches have been the ticket.
About the same time last year they switched over to crawlers but that has not happened as of yet but it will and I will be waiting.
I am fishing Sand and Rocks all between the weedline and 8ft and if your not on the windy side of the shore your not catching.

That’s a punch in the seeds. The wife did that with a 2 lb 8 oz, rock bass this year. 1st one she had ever caught too. no one new that was as big as the come.

On Sand Burr’s advice, we were pulling chartreuse and hammered brass spinner rigs last week tipped with leeches. The fish came in 8-10 ft along wind-swept structure…rock, weeds, sunken reefs…did not matter.

You end up sorting through a lot of hammer-handle northerns to get to the walleyes though.

Glad to see you were able to land a few!
Did you notice how a little bit of wind can really increase your fishing odds with the walleyes?

No wind…no fish. Simple as that.

One of the mornings we were out it was absolutely flat calm. We couldn’t buy a bite.

Late in the day the wind picked up and we caught fish…a lot of them.
