Fishing, hunting, fishing, hunting……can it get any better??? I am all packed & heading north, bright & early tomorrow AM. I have plenty of empty coolers along to take lots of bear meat home!! Can’t wait to look down my gun barrel & see a big “old” black bear in front of me. I don’t imagine that I will sleep all that much tonight……Ha!

    Hey Chris,

Your trophy looks good over the fireplace!! Thought I would update you on a couple of pics that I got from my trail camera. I thought that I recognized that scat in Wendy’s flower garden.

That is definitely a “KODAK” moment!! It was a pleasure helping you haul that trophy out of the woods and all the way to the Taxidermist. We will have to start looking for this big boy’s Grand Pappy…..you know that there is a good chance he is still cruising around somewhere in the Northwoods.

Your are a prime example of what makes parents so proud!! You have always and continue to be a “1st” class son, an excellent business man, a absolute great person to fish with and you still can make me laugh so hard that I just about choke to death.

    Good job Chris!!!!

Chris takes another one for the team. OUCH!! I guess you always were a team player, even when you were very young. By the way, “NICE FISH”!! I think that you are going to run out of room on your walls, if you keep mounting these giants. I hope your thumb is feeling somewhat better. I’m sure glad that it wasn’t on your trigger finger.

Another fishing buddy to add to your bucket. Cole seemed to be a natural, just waiting to be let loose on those Rainy Lake walleyes. I’m pretty sure that this will be the 1st of many more fishing trips to come. I think that you were just about this same age when you caught your 1st walleye and look what happened to you!!

I have to admit, it was pretty nice sitting in the passenger seat and watching Chris navigate & operate his new red & sparkly cruiser. Of course, the fishing was good and the country music was totally relaxing. It really makes me proud to see how a son who catches his first (wall mounter) walleye at the age of “5” progresses to his current level of lifetime achievements. Congratulations to both Chris & Cheryl on all that you have accomplished since you have become true lifetime partners in this world.

    Hey Chad,

Thanks for the info Chad. Got a few other questions for you:

    1. On you website, it says we need an old license. Will a current Minnesota fishing license be OK? Neither Chris or I have any old hunting licenses, as we usually throw them out after hunting season. I do have a old turkey license that I haven’t thrown out yet also.
    2. Do we need to take our own ladder or climbing stands along? Or do you have stands that we can use?
    3. How do we get out to the hunting area? Do you take us, or do we walk, or should we take our ATV along?
    4. When I talked to my taxidermist, he said that we should skin out the entire bear, then fold it in half and then put it into a freezer. Do you have a freezer large enough to do that?

Only “8” more days and I will bring up a new supply of Rapala’s to add to the collection. Mine still have all of the treble’s attached…….can’t wait to get up there.

Not that I have “HIGH” hopes or anything, but I did talk to my taxidermist about the type of mount that I want for my black bear this fall. I have also been reading a lot on how to judge the size of bears. I am so excited about coming up this fall for our bear hunt! Chad, do you have someone who could skin out my bear for me and also do you have freezer space for the hide?

    WOW!!!

We just reviewed your Northern Fishing techniques and were pretty impressed!! You probably should brush up on your fish retrieving process. We do have some old gloves that you could have for next time. “Just kidding”!! Very nice fish. We all had to review this clip from our warm living room here in sunny California. I’m not sure we are that anxious to actually be on the ice with you at this time, as we hear it is a little cool there. Curt said that you just called and were finally getting a couple of day’s rest from a long and “cold” fishing stint. We are glad to have Curt & Wendy here with us. Wish you guys could be here too.

You didn’t tell me that I had to take my snow shovel along next week. Should I take my ice fishing pole along too?? You sure do have to be a tough fisherman to handle the extreme weather up there.
