I’ve been using my 522 the past 4 seasons on the ice and have really enjoyed it. I have another flasher but always seem to go with my 522i. One of the nice things about the Sonar view is the ability to have a visual memory of what is happening near your jig. I don’t have to worry about taking my eyes off my sonar for fear of missing an interested fish. The ability to zoom anywhere in the water column is a nice bonus as well. Late fall I scout out my early ice locations and those waypoints are great to have on hand instead of transferring to a seperate GPS unit. Battery life is approximately 8 hours which is plenty for me. I.M.O. it’s a tough unit to beat in the GPS/Sonar world.

I thought a IDOer was going to buy all his stuff and open a replacement bait store.

That would be AWESOME. I know I’m hurtin’ on bait without Moore’s around. I don’t have time to trap my own these days.

You can’t discount the guy for the boat he fishes out of. I have fished muskies out of a pontoon and honestly it’s pretty great. However, fishing for them right now with these temps is a death sentence for any muskies he does catch. With the spincast setup in the background, I’ll blame it on ignorance.

I think I picked mine up at Thorne Bros. originally for muskies. I don’t know how many times this thing has saved me from a trip to the hospital or a dead fish. It’s easy to use and you can pull or push the hook out. I think it was around 15 bucks.

I use this for bigger game fish. They are very easy to use and at just shy of 16″ they can get into the hard to reach areas of a fish’s mouth.

It’s unfortunate to hear of another quality Bait Shop closing down. Moores is a class act and Bob runs a fantastic shop. I always had no problem driving 30-60 minutes one way to pick up bait and tackle from Bob. He’s always good for a chat and service is nothing short of fantastic. Throw in the selection of Cat gear and it is the best place in the metro for a cat guy.

I wish him and his family nothing but the best of luck in whatever they decide to do next. Thanks for the service through the years Bob!

I’m pretty shocked that the company wasn’t fined for illegal dumping. If people don’t get punished, they will only turn around and do it again….only being a bit more discreet. Good to hear they were busted though.
